Disney/Marvel and Netflix announced a deal today that would bring about four new live action comic book series that would culminate in an over-arching mini-series that brings all four plots together. So, basically, this is a low-rent version of the Avengers conglomerate led by none other than The Man With No Fear Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. So Daredevil is the Iron Man of this franchise and the other three series will follow Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist and all deal with the grimy underworld of Hell's Kitchen. The programming starts in 2015 so somewhere around 2020 or so we'll get the mini-series called The Defenders about all four characters. I think it's pretty bold of Marvel to tip their entire plan but, then again, they're getting Too Big To Fail. Marvel is everywhere now. Don't look now, they're in your coffee cup. Here, for reference, are Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
Reached for comment on whether he'd reprise his role as Daredevil for the Netflix series, Ben Affleck reportedly said, "Go f*ck yourself."
